Hi
I am in process of moving back to my house in UK ( Birmingham ) and i thinking of going with Sky for broadband & phone line. I prefer unlimited package as i use new groups.
I want to know if sky use bandwidth throttling & Xbox Live works fine with it. Around a year ago, I was with o2 and was getting around 14mb download speed. Do you think i will get the same speed with Sky as speed checker on their site says that i will get around 9 MB.
Kind Regards
SD

Hey SD,
Been with Sky for years! Great choice! I can confirm absolutely no throttling and Xbox live works a treat!!
I get 16Mbps, when the website said I should only get 8.
Do it, you won't be disappointed. When they say Unlimited it is!

Just be certain you can get the LLU Unlimited broadband. The adsl offering is useless.

Thanks for your replies guys. How can i find out if i am offered LLU & not the adsl one?

Ask for Sky Unlimited. If you are offered Sky Connect refuse. It depends if Sky have unbundled your exchange for 'Unlimited'. Put your exchange name in here and check under "LLU operator presence "

Hi
Does anyone know if there is an difference in speed if you just get the broadband package or go for both broadband & phone package?
Thanks

There's no throttling with Sky Unlimited. I use Sky Player daily for hours (watching sports & movies on one of my laptops as I can't get near the remote for the livingroom TV due to my wife & daughters ).
P2P downloads max out at all times when I've downloaded anything.
Hope this helps.

If you go for ADSL + phone + rental, you'll likely be connected to Sky's new SVBN hardware, and I gather they use a set of fixed line profiles on that somewhat similar to what BT does, whereas the old easynet network doesn't, so there could be a very slight performance advantage to being on the old hardware. If you go for broadband only, I guess you'd be more likely to be put on the easynet hardware if it is at your exchange and there are some ports free.

Perhaps it's changing. I joined Sky Broadband in December (line rental is with BT) and my first hop is *.sky.com.

I think the best bet would be to get the phone line (Line Rental) with BT and than just get a sky talk + ADSL package with Sky.
This will make it easier for me to move to other ISP later on. Also i have easynet at my exchange so might be a chance that i would be put on old hardware.
