New to sky & DLM confusion..

I got my sky broardband up and running this week. (Monday?)
On the first 2 days I had major issues with lots of noise on the line and dropping connection.
Through slef testing and fault finding it turned out to be the sky filters were both faulty. Luckily I had 2 good quality ones in my box of IT tricks.

Everything is fine now but my connection seems to be staying between 7-8 mb for 3 days now. I only moved in here a month ago but my previous adress whas the flats behind these ones. you can see through our old kitchen window through our new bedroom one so its less than 20 meters away

There I was on TalkTalk with a comfy 16mb as the exgange is 5mins walk from here (litrally, pretty much the same street)

At first the speed was 3 meg then jumped to 12 before I started notiseing the noise and stability problems caused by the filters.

Will I see an improvement on these speeds or am I qoing to be stuck with half the speed I am used to now?
How does DLM actually work?

With such low attenuation figures as you have(if correctly reported by router) you should get the full sync speed certainly 20mib downstream and at least 1024kbps upstream, could be down to the unhelpful dlm they insist on using

so am i likley so see an increased speed in the next few days?

Wait for the 10 days and see what happens!

Yes you should see an increase in speed.
Check the "My Account" page on Sky.com and it will tell you DLM has started,usually takes a couple of days anyway so you should be good,when DLM has finished you ought to be getting the full 20 Mb if not give Sky a call and ask to have your line manually configured.

The past few days have been strange.
My line is now synching slower than before.

The downsteam has gone from 9215 to 8190 and woke up this morning to see its at 7006.

It loks like the DLM has raped me hard.

I had similar issues, I didn't switch over to the new filters, and the old ones were causing a lot of noise. Switching to the new ones sorted the problem out, but Sky had finished the line testing (even though the website showed it as still in progress). I phoned them up and after repeatedly quoting the speeds I expected from the attenuation, and highlighting that I had resovled the noise issue, she went through to a technical person and my speeds jumped from 4Mbps to 14Mbps (synch speed), that has since dropped to 12Mbps synch but this is much more inline with what I expected

After lots of messing about and self diagnosis I did not rule out a line fault and decided to call Sky tech support and I had a really plessent asian chap. He then caled me back on my mobile and told me to try many different things in the test socket and I explained everything from day 1 he looked at my disconnection logs. he said he could understand what i was talking about and believes me that the fault may be external.

I even mentioned about the dlm seeing all my disconections and mistakeing them for an unstable line. I was shocked when he said he canceled it because I can easily get 16mb from here..

I now have a fault reference number and I have to call the team back after 10pm
Looks like they are going to be chaseing BT..

I will be asking for compensation as I have been plauged from the start..
took the Tv enginners 3 visits to get my dish and box installed..
my Broardand and phone install dates were changed twice without telling me.
When I finally get it, it dosent work right..

On the bright side at least sky are aware there is a problem externally and it will hopefully be fixed.
