when is fibre2 going live on sky ?

i see bt has just gone live with fibre2 (78mb) anyone know when sky will be rolling this out ?

Sky is already offering an 80/20 package. It might not available at your exchange immediately.

yes but bt are offering fibre 2 to all fibre customers , as long as you get fibre 1 , upgrade to fibre 2 is just a click on bts web site .

That's because BT Wholesale probably have a much larger backhaul out of the exchange compared to LLU Providers (I'm NOT entirely sure about this but its quite likely) and the backhaul for BTw products is likely upgraded when FTTC is installed from an exchange.

Sky have to upgrade their Backhaul and equipment in exchanges before they can offer Up to 80Mbps to ensure they can provide a good enough service. If they don't, it could bring congestion issues.

Until Sky give your exchange the all clear for 80Mbps, you won't be able to order the 80Mbps product.

Also, there are 3 fibre products available from BT Openreach 40/2 40/10 and 80/20. The 80/20 product hasn't replaced the 40/10 one.

BT Retail decided to upgrade everyone from one wholesale product to another for free and without increasing the monthly cost. Other providers won't be able to absorb such costs and so are likely to offer the 80/20 option as a separate product at an increased cost to reflect the additional cost of providing such a service.

Given some of the speed variability BT Wholesale based (particularly BT Retail users) are seeing then perhaps a slower launch was wise.
