Some prices will increase from 1 September 2012

[link to this post]

At the bottom of Sky's sales pages it says "Some prices will increase from 1 September 2012".

Does anyone know which prices are increasing, and by how much?

Oliver.

Last year sky did a "price freeze" and said it would last until September 2012 so i would expect TV to go up by £1-2. Also existing customers are still paying for TV based on how many of the 6 mixes they had. Sky's new pricing is based on only 2 TV packages (+ premium things like movies and sport.)

So overall I'd expect TV, line rental and calls to go up.

...and a phone call to cancel will bring them right back down again! smile

If within a contract term and the price varies you can exercise your right to cancel if the changes are to your detriment

With phone line rental generally going up at many providers, you may not find any suitable cheaper in September

Although, Sky contracts allow them to raise the price by up to 10% without the customer having the option to leave.

Crikey that would be quite a hike in the current financial climate !

If my package went up by that much then I would definently downgrade my TV package although I would still keep the phone and broadband the same as it is now.

True. It may put off new subscribers now they know their contracted price could go up by as much as 10% in September without the option of leaving.

Crikey you must have everything to be paying that much !

I'm paying around half that as I don't have the Sports or the Movie TV packages.

If the cost only increases by a £1 a year then I don't think that can be classed as detrimental.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb

Any price increase is detrimental, but either way their T&C allow for a 10% increase.

Agreed but I expect the price increase to be more than this if you have broadband, phone and TV with Sky.

Since we got Sky about 15 years ago, on analogue, the cost rose nearly every year by £1. Couldn't really complain about that.

If each option increases by £1 it doesn't seem too bad.

Lots of things increase in price but we don't class it as being detrimental. Prices rise and usually wages rise also.

Yeah, full package and multi-room. A terabyte box and standard HD box, plus two SD boxes.

Been a Sky customer since the start of the 90's. Fun days those old analog boxes. I don't think I could live without the sports or movie channels.

Yeah I remember the old analogue digiboxes.

Each to his own but I have never subscribed to the Sports or Movie channels.
