Slower than promised - are my stats OK ?

Recently moved to Sky and in the sign up I was promised "between 9.6Mbps and 16.4Mbps"

I'm not getting near 9.6 so feel a bit cheated.

Here are my router stats - would anyone who knows how to read these, like to comment ? Should I be getting better?

How recently?

The Sky DLM starts at 4Meg and over time increases the allowed speed. So if you had faster speeds with previous provider it may be a case of waiting for the Sky DLM to catch up.

Well its about a month now, and the speed is similar to the previous O2 line.

Just seems annoying to promise, and not deliver, higher line speeds. Thought they were not supposed to do that now.

So your line looks short enough to go a lot faster, but with two providers not hitting those speeds the suggestion is that there is something odd about the line, i.e. something that is holding back your maximum speed possibly beyond any ISP DLM system too.

What are the exact stats when you connect to your test socket (i.e. socket revealed by removing faceplate from master socket e.g. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/images/faq/faceplates/...

You should get a lot faster.

Based on your current setup it's already maxed out though.

Chances are you are doing atleast one of the following:

Not in the master socket
Have poor internal phone wiring - how many phone sockets are in your house?
Using a long extension lead from the phone socket?
Not having every device filtered
Having a hardwired alarm that's unfiltered therefore?
Having a second master socket somewhere
Having an unfiltered sky box
Filtering after a phone splitter
Having star wiring - where there is no master socket

Do any of these apply?
