Sky or Plusnet for 80mb FTTC

Currently with Sky for ADSL and cab had just gone live for FTTC ordering.

Plusnet seem to have the best offers on at the moment, however wondered if anyone on here has managed to get Sky to agree to give them the same/better prices when asking for a MAC?

A colleague of mine managed to the SFU for £10 a month for 6 months but they wouldn't budge on the price of SFUP.

It depends how long you've been with Sky for.

When i got Sky Fibre (40Mbit) last year, i got £9 off my line rental for 12 months. This made fibre only £3.50 per month more than ADSL

When i tried to get a similar offer for my sister, I could only get a smaller discount and for 6 months.

This was before there were any official promotions on Sky Fibre.

I got line rental for £1.
Worth ringing cancellations and explaining you can get it cheaper with plusnet - see what's offered. They are likely to reduce your line rental or TV price (if applicable) instead.

If i cannot get a good deal for fibre from sky do i ask for a MAC as normal which would then allow me to move to plusnet etc?

Sky don't issue MACs cuz they don't apply to Full LLU.

Just ring up PlusNet and see what they offer.

You'd have to move the landline & calls away from Sky too I believe.
It would be easier to take it with Sky. I'd personally just get the 40Mbps package with 6 months half price with Sky and then if you really need 80 upgrade. When I had 40 Mbps it did all I needed & when I upgraded to 80 Mbps I noticed little difference.

Netflix worked fine at 40 Mbps
Everything loaded super fast
Even with 6 people using it

At 80 - yes it was faster but in reality it didn't "feel" any quicker unless I was torrenting.

Via WiFi I only got around 30 - 50 Mbps anyway & I barely use Ethernet so for me the upgrade wasn't overly worth it. I have upgraded to 5Ghz now though and see full speeds but that was a hassle.

Sky may even offer you it even cheaper

Not that bothered about the extra download but really want the extra upload speeds.

Sky fibre is 10Mbps upload which is still really decent.

I can 2nd that.
