SKY IP v6

So the SKY FTTC router has jumped to v7.xx software. This now has IPV6 running on the LAN segment, but not the WAN segment yet.

* I can ping the SKY router using IPv6 IP address
* I can not connect to the web admin screens using IPv6, using the IPv6 address in the URL.
* There is no LAN IPv6 DNS server capability
* The router is sending out a LAN network stub address using DHCPv6 to all of the IPv6 devices on my network, and they are picking this up and using it.

It is a start and looks to be signs of things to come.

My mate has the last Sagem which handles FTTC and ADSL and he is on ADSL (17meg sync) and also has the IPv6 options, exactly as you describe. Nothing on the WAN yet. I noticed his router has switched from MER to PPPoA a few weeks ago.

Wonder what sky have to get working for a full ip v6 deployment.

Must be a challenge doing this and keeping all of the network stuff on, given the amount of on demand used now.

I read somewhere (here, or skyuser) that Sky had IPv6 working on the core network a while ago. Getting the home routers to support IPv6 is a good idea as Sky are in charge of the firmware. AAISP report that they've had IPv6 available for years but home router support for IPv6 has been very poor and in many cases full of bugs as if not tested by the manufacturer.

For Sky FTTC and ADSL LLU will be pretty similar. The people on the Sky Connect service over BTwholesale backbone should be able to use IPv6 in theory as all the IPv4 and IPv6 data will be encapsulated in PPP frames.

Nobody really knows until one of the big (4 to 5 million customer ISPs) switch it on. Sky might be first.

I spotted mine as the status page now shows ip6 details

SR101 has still not had an IPv6 update. Now that both the previous and subsequent routers, the 2504N and the SR102 have had the update maybe we are next.

Hmm, mine updated but no IPv6

Latency has doubled, noise margin has dropped from ~26dB to ~18dB and lost 4kbps on the download sync.
