Static IP address now in general availability for ADSL

Going by a live chat I just had, static IP addresses are now in general availability on ADSL, i.e. not just for O2/BE migrants and not just for Sky fibre users.

The special number for this is: 03442 414141

There you can move to Sky Broadband Unlimited Pro, which has ADSL with a static IP address and costs £5 a month more than Sky Broadband Unlimited. This option for non O2/BE migrants appears to be on a "soft" roll out and not mentioned on the website.

If you want a static IP address on fibre, that's also available of course, via Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro. The number for that one is on the Sky Fibre Unlimited sales page.

That's not a special number for static ips. It's just one of the new 03xx numbers for customer services which replaced the old 084x numbers.

So what if it's special or not? If it gets through to someone who knows about Pro then there's no need to be pedantic.

You were the one who said it was a "special" number in the OP. The fact is there's nothing special about it.

My post was about static IP addresses being available and I passed on the telephone number which was given to me via live chat, which happens to be different to the usual telephone number as displayed in my control panel, hence my use of the word "special".

If disputing the word "special" is the most that can be contributed by other people to this thread, then it's a poor show in my opinion.

The number is actually Sky's main Customer Services number that's used for everything.

I really don't know why people are obsessing over the telephone number, the point of the post is the availability of static IP address, and I supplied a telephone number which will get people through to someone who can action it.

In my live chat with Sky I was told this: "We have a specialist team who deal with these requests. You need to call 03442 414141, and there will be a option for Sky Broadband or Sky Broadband Pro....This team can help you"

That's why I used the word "special", but it seems people are greatly upset by my use of the word "special".

I mean it's not like anyone might actually thank me for a helpful post or anything, it makes much more sense just to make useless criticisms. I don't think I'll bother trying to be helpful in future if this is the response I get.

As people are arguing over the name to give a phone number, rather than the availability of static IP addressing
