Hi
A family member of mine has a Sky LLU connection and syncs at around 12-13000kbps and 1300kbps upstream.
I have notcied their Latency has droped so I'm assuming they have been put on fastpath by DLM and their upload used to be just over 1000kbps and now the SNR for that has been decreased to 3db so they are nearly maxing out.
The downstream how ever is still on a 6db profile and was wondering if I rang or went on the Sky Forums if it could be decreased also to 3db to suck a bit more speed out of there line..
Their Downstream Line Attenuation is around 35db and not very far from exchange...
Also thought I would add this: What are the chances of getting an ordinary Sky Unlimted connection switched to the pro version that ex O2 & BE customers are on as I wouldn't mind getting a static IP for this connection to monitor its latenmcy and generally keep and eye on it.
So what do you think my chances are???

The Pro version was introduced as an option for Be customers who were on fixed IP and is very recent. Most, in fact virtually all O2 customers were moved over before Pro was released and are on normal Sky broadband (how this was done depends on the hardware available at individual exchanges and whether they have also taken Sky Talk). I understand that Pro is available now to anybody on request, though at a different price and presumably a new contract.

ADSL Pro costs £5 per month more than normal ADSL Unlimited.

Ok cool and could you recap any advantages other than a static IP over standered Unlimited maybe does it have annex m??
I've noticed in the online account the upload is set upto 2.6mbps

Line profiles have to be set via live chat or phone I believe, until they sort it out in My Sky.
I've never seen anyone clarify what kind of line profiles are available, maybe someone on ADSL Pro can enlighten us.
Oliver.

1.3Mbps is the maximum upstream speed supported by Annex A so reducing the upstream SNR wouldn't make any difference.

As I said in my post I want to get downstream SNR decreased to 3db from 6db...
The upstream SNR has already been decreased to 3db and now sync at 1300kbps or just under.

Line profiles aren't available (yet) - they're due to be rolled out later this year.
Also, not all Sky exchanges support static ip yet. Apparently all the ex-Be ones do, and the rest are being upgraded over the next few months

Yeah we moved over from BE, we left it to the very last minute, well until we had no choice really, I think BE was a great ISP, we used to get at one point 7 to 8 Mbit down and the ~1Mbit up, and over the years it got a little bit worse to where we was getting ~6.5 to 7 Mbit down so wasn't too bad, now Sky got there hands on it was still ok nothing changed and we was still using the same static IP from BE, and as soon as we was switched over to an actual Sky account with their static IP we had to re-boot our router and our download was dropped down from very stable 6.8 Mbit no disconnects at all down to 2.5M to 4Mbit with loads of disconnects.
Most of the time its about 3.5Mbits and we have had it drop down to 0.5Mbits for about 3 to 4 days so Sky are not being nice.
We have had nothing but problems with Sky's broadband Pro package, I cannot fault Sky as a TV provider and their support due to we are living in a conservation area and we had to remove or relocate our Dish from the front of our house, and Sky free of charge agreed (no renewal of contract nothing) and relocated our dish (well gave us a brand new dish and 8x output LMB) to the back of our house just below the gutter and did a complete re-wire of all 4HD Boxes with brand new cables which resulted in a very stronger signal which is great, so I cannot fault them there.
This engineer was very nice to talk to was very polite and did a very nice neat job on the cabling to all 4 HD boxes, 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs front and back of house so there was loads of cables used.
So no issues with them there.
So, once our BT BB goes live on the 7th or 8th on our main phone line we will be cancelling Sky BB, due to we have no contract to complete due to being moved over from BE, so probably as of next week we will be giving them their 1 month notice then they will be gone.
And if we have any issues with BT's BB that they don't resolve as we like they will be gone after 12 months and £7.50 p/m for 12 months isn't bad.

With sky pro bb you should have been able to request a 3db profile and that dynamic line management was removed, this should restore your speed to Be levels. For some reason sky decided to not tell people this and have as a result leaked a lot of ex-Be/O2 customers.
I ran at just below 6mb on Be and normal sky can only give me 4mb. A chat with the pro team confirmed that I could get the above no dlm and 3db profile and my speed with sky would be just above 6mb on sky pro.
Many of the people who moved from Be or O2 to sky are getting free bb. They offered me free router and free bb. Lots of peeps just accepted the letter from sky as the price they pay without even trying for a better deal.
