Re: NOW Broadband (from NOW TV / Sky)

I took out Now BB at the start of March. The £100 quidco for my order has (and still is delayed) with Quidco emailing in June to say it was going to take longer. Are you sure it failed, or could it just be like mine delayed?

I actually don't think I got my 3 months worth of Now TV either, however as it's not very good (at least when I've tried it in the past) I totally forgot about that.

I've not had any problems either, but cannot see why the only put 2 LAN ports on the router, seems a bit petty of them as it's not like there isn't enough space.

Mine was for £90, it successfully tracked - I waited for 6 months as suggested, but now Quidco just says that the cashback has been declined. I've been through Quidco's automated process to query this, and I just end up getting the message that "NOW TV Combo does not allow raising claims".

Looking at the Quidco help pages, there's this FAQ - What is a claim and when will I need one?

The last paragraph bluntly states that "Certain retailers don't accept cashback claims, which means that if you're purchase doesn't track or is declined, unfortunately we'd be unable to take this further."

I have nonetheless raised a query with Quidco customer services, but given the above I don't expect much joy.

I have to say I'm a bit cheesed off with this, as the offer of the £90 cashback from Quidco was what got me to look at NOW Broadband in the first place.

Saves a bit of money. I imagine the vast majority of home broadband users don't make use of more than 2 LAN ports - I dare say most who do actually make use of a wired connection only make use of a single LAN port.

Of all the providers I have been with NowTV is one of the least troublesome. Not sure if that is just luck, but I had no call on their technical/support and the ADSL service just worked as advertised.

I made no use of their TV service or their free phone calls. Just a good basic ADSL service for which I used my own router.

I similar story with Sky, so if they have another special offer come up I would have no hesitation of signing back up with them. They even sent me a small refund when I ended the contract early.

Their tech support seems to be based in the UK(although I did ring up the other day and speak to an Indian person) and I've always got through pretty much immediately without being stuck waiting in a queue. No complaints about their tech support from me so far.

The router they supply uses MER authentication - the same as Sky - you can extract your credentials by setting the router to use ethernet for the WAN port, then attaching a network cable and running the simple extraction tool on the Skyuser forum. Of course to use the extracted credentials on your own router it must support sending DHCP options 60 and 61.

Model no. on my NowTV hub is NR801, if that helps?

Just had to find and send back my shell BB router, the first I have been asked to send back in years!

Plusnet's new device is added to the pile, as reports are it is very poor performer.

Did you have any luck with Quidco?

Mine is still showing as "Sorry for the delay. We are still waiting on the retailer to process your cashback". My order was from the end of February this year.

Not sure whether to chase quidco or not, seems like a bit of a stalling act from Now TV as the esitmate was June.

Answering my own question. Quidco paid up today. Withdrawn it and stuck my notice on the cancel. I’ll give Now BB credit, the only charge £11 odd per month to cancel early.
