Sky contract ending - renewal deals

[link to this post]

I am out of contract in a week, the renewal offer is £40/month, up from a good deal at £25/month including anytime calls. I can't really complain, but not sure why I'd accept +15/month and have to sign up for another 18 months.

I was with Plusnet for many years before switching to Sky 18 months ago. That was fine too.

I can see Plusnet has a deal at £25/month + £9.41 anytime calls, but via Uswitch you get £75 reward card (equiv to £6.25 reduction/month), hence ~£28/month. Yes I am a cheap b***, but hey it's a saving of over £200 over 18 months

So my questions are:
* Will Sky typically price match?
* Any thoughts on Plusnet current state of play (speed/reliability/etc)

Cheers

They need to do better than that as thats the standard out of contract price, certainly not the price for signing up for another 18 months with them.

Edit: Sorry just checked again and that is their current renewal price, my mistake frown

Thanks.
Well, I found a deal with Sky through Techradar at £26/month + call package (which I think is £9 for anytime), but not sure if they will give this to existing customers (despite Sky and others signing up to the Ofcom fair pricing for old/new customers).

Do your research and once you're sure you can get a better price else where give them a call and see what they say, if they wont move on price then you know what to do.

Just phone Sky and ask to recontract and the should give you whatever the current deal is which I believe is £26 per month plus whatever talk package you want on top.

Thank you all for the feedback and suggestions.

I went on to Sky account, it's impossible to separate BB from phone on the web portal, so then I hit chat. Explained what I wanted, and the available deals. They said, recontract for 18 months, best they could do was £28 (£5 discount) per month, plus full charge for calls package (£10 for Anytime) - but I found the "plus £10 admin fee" a total pi$$ take. So that was that, I didn't waste any more time with them.

Now signed [back] up with Plusnet, £25/m plus anytime £9.41, 18 month contract, and get a £75 reward card.

Can go with Now Broadband for £22 a month with anytime calls included free for first 12 months, also only 12 month contract.

https://www.nowtv.com/

They are the sister brand to Sky

Thanks AyeUp, I did notice but was unsure about stability/reliability/performance, but something to consider in future.
I don't see a specific forum area for Now Broadband, although they are associated with Sky.
