Port out landline number

[link to this post]

My sky broadband and talk contract (SoGEA) ends at the end of April. I have secured a 1Gb FTTP connection from Lit Broadband that comes without phone services. This isn't an issue as the landline is very rarely used, however I would like to keep the (ex-BT) number. I have asked 'Twilio' (plan B Siogate) to begin the port in process, however they are asking for the losing carrier details as Sky are a reseller. Does anyone know how to get these? Also any success stories of doing similar gratefully received.

It’s Sky.

If twilio can’t port it in then Sipgate can.

They most certainly are not a reseller.

I recently got myself all ready to port my landline number to Sipgate, from Vodafone Broadband.

Have been with Sipgate for 15 years. They have a free account that'll allow you access to the number w/o monthly charges. I find them really helpful and have quite a few numbers with them already.

Contact them, they'll send you all the forms, you'll need some info from Sky. Sipgate should be able to help with this. Contact is via email address [email protected], all detailed on their site.

I went through the process then realised I'd lose my BB service before I switched it to FTTP.
So am now on hold.

f you set the port date to just before you move, or just after and hold the Sky account open till ported, you'll not have this issue.

Good luck wink

My guess is that the OP was, unknowingly, using TalkTalk for voice and Sky for broadband. An SMPF kinda thing.

An easy-ish way to test is to ring 17070 on the landline, if Sky are providing the voice, then the announcement will include “Hi, you are through to Sky …” TalkTalk have a much simpler message, with no identifying name in it.

Just a brief update to say that the number port went through today to Twilio after confirming with them the losing carrier was indeed Sky.

Cool. How long did the porting process with Twilio take once they’d had all the facts confirmed?
