Existing Customers Copper to FTTP

[link to this post]

Openreach has announced that they will offer discounts to ISPs for migrating existing customers from Copper lines (ADSL/FTTC) onto full Fiber.(https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2023/08/openreach-discounts-proactive-uk-copper-to-fttp-upgrades.html)

I am currently under contract with Sky for FTTC, as that's what's available in my area. However, the build for Fiber has just started on our road, and I'm hoping FTTP will be ready within the quarter.

Has anyone had any experience with mid-contract upgrades with Sky? I know they allow them to happen, and you start a new contract with them, but pricing-wise, do they charge the full retail pricing? Usually, I never pay the official "retail" price, as retentions always sort me out with a deal.

Can I turn the question around?

What Sky services (e.g TV, Mobile, Broadband) do you currently have and what FTTP product are you hoping to switch too and realistically what are you hoping to pay at the start of the new contract for it?

I was on Sky FTTC and had about 6 months left on my contract. FTTP arrived so I called them, asked what it would cost to leave as Sky were asking £38 per month for their cheapest full fibre (145mbps). Worked out it would be cheaper to pay to leave and go somewhere else. Then negotiated and was able to take it at £30 per month. Not as cheap as other providers but saved some time hassle. Been in a few weeks and works well so far.

Sky Fibre Superfast -62mbps down, 15mbps up. Noise down - 3.5dB, noise up - 6.0dB

Sky will always let you upgrade mid-contract, but don't expect to get the new customer pricing if you're inside your minimum contract period.
