Any Genuinely Satisfied Customers?

[link to this post]

Well as with any major role out some errors and unhappy customers are to be expected, but are there any happy customers out there? Who maybe just surf a little a day and are enjoying the savings each month, and free UK landline calls ?

Despite all the bad comments I am still so tempted by the offer especially now that you don't have to pay the

I have assisted in the signups of my wife's Mum, my mum and my brother and all have gone completley smoothly. There have been no problems for me at all. Admitedly I was waiting to see how things went for them before signing up myself, but based on their experiences I have no hesitation.

The bills came on time, and were correct, the internet, while not being MaxDSL like I was expecting, is still fast (2mb) and gaming and P2P have been fine with no issues at all.

Had a little bit of trouble getting through with their MAC codes, but I did not have to re-request the codes from their ISP's and the dates of changeover were honoured.

It is worth noting on this forum however, that although most of the posts in the TalkTalk forum are compaints, there are only 350 of them. If you look at the PlusNet forum for example (who is my current ISP), there are a couple of thousand posts in there, and over the last year, most of those have been complaints and I have had no cause to complain about PlusNet. The way I see it, my current ISP has many many hundreds of posts from people complaining, wereas TalkTalk only has 350.

It is also worth noting that until recently TalkTalk only had 75,000 customers, they now have 340,000. Also the posts in the Plusnet forum are mostly technical or adslmax issues as opposed to the huge number of customer service issues posted here. It's interesting to see how many of the people posting here have been similar, migrations taking weeks and months, continued billing even after people have closed their accounts, throttling ports until they are unusable (TalkTalk don't block ports but they come pretty close) etc.

I myself have migrated to Plusnet and my experience to date as been very good. They messed up migration but after posting a ticket on their website it was fixed in less than 48 hours, not the 3 months that TalkTalk took. The fact that people are migrating out of a free service says plenty about TalkTalk.

Can you guys with talk talk use Access numbers, from cheap call carriers like 0844calls or dialwise etc ? or does CPW block these?

You can use dial-throughs such as 0844 number, but not indirect carriers such as 1899 etc.

TalkTalk however can charge more for you using 0844 numbers than BT, and do charge more for some, they can also throw you off their service if you do so, or charge you extra.

It should be noted that I didn't rent my line from TalkTalk, my line rental always remained with BT. My original intention was to hand over my line rental to TalkTalk, but I decided against it after they screwed up so much in my first couple of months with them.

Yes I am happy and satisfied. At present there is no LLU presence im y local exchange so I am still getting 2MB instead of 8MB as advertised, no big deal and not TalkTalk's fault, its BT's problem and them dragging their heels.

Iternet gaming, surfing, downloading with torrents is fast and acceptable and to be honest I have not noticed any difference apart for DNS servers unable to find a page sometimes, which can easily be changed by taking pissnet's dns and BT's dns server ip addresses and adding it to your router config page.

People on here are moaning because they have just chopped and changed, they've like joined in one week and wanted to join something else quickly without reading the small print. They fail to realise that Talktalk have ventured into something new with broadband, and if memory serves me correctly FreeServe had exactly the same problems when people jumped on that offer way back.

Broadband is fine and my telephone service is fine. the best bit is the money I am saving every month now. All in all totally satisfied with my 18 month contract with them, plus I'm excited at the prospect of getting my 8mb active come December 2006 that would be a great Xmas pressy from them.

Not everyone here just joined. TalkTalk is not new and neither are their problems. If you go back a year on this board you will find different people having the same problems that we are having today. As for the small print, they change the rules constantly, the terms and conditions of the contract are radically different to when I signed up 16 months ago. At that time it really was an unlimited service.

The people here are moaning for a lot of reasons but most of them are due to poor administration on the part of TalkTalk, not anything that they can fix by themselves. Sadly, tweaking my router settings isn't going to stop them billing me two months after I left them. Nor would it have made their lengthy and frustrating migration process any quicker. It is for these reasons that I and many other posters here are 'moaning'!
