WAG354G and TalkTalk settings? (PPPOE?)

[link to this post]

Okay.. I got myself a nice new WAG354G for a TalkTalk ADSL account.

I've tested about every setting possible, but I just can not get the modem to make a connection!

What protocol should it be set to? I thought that PPPOE was the one to use, but again.. No luck!

Could it be the WAG354G firmware version, or do I need to set the VC or protocol to an other setting?

Some one here who could maybe give me some more info on this?

** edit..

Oops... Just found this link: http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=talktalk&Number=2226044&page=&view=&sb=&o=

Sorry about this message..

I have the same modem with the latest firmware. Let me know if you want all the settings.

Hi Vorlon,

You are right... I needed "RFC 2364 PPPoA"
This is what I have now, and it's working great :-)
(note: the only thing that I changed to make it work is the "Virtual Circuit VCI:" from 35 to 38 and the login name / password) The WAG354G's firmware version is 1.01.03

Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA
Multiplexing: VC
Qos Type: UBR
Pcr Rate: 0
Scr Rate: 0
Autodetect: Disabled
Virtual Circuit VPI: 0
Virtual Circuit VCI: 38

The latest firmware version is 1.01.05 which allows the MTU to be set higher amongst other things.
When i experienced TT problems, I updated the firmware and set the MTU to Auto.

You will find the Firmware on the Linksys UK site

Thanks again Vorlon,

I'll update the firmware tomorrow.

What is your MTU setting?
Last time I changed the MTU (at home in the Netherlands) some sites did not work anymore!

btw. The connection is really not that bad! I've done some upload/download test to one of my servers, and the download speed I get for this "free" account is nice (upload could be better)
The modem "trains" (not sure if this is what you ppl call it here in the UK) at down: 1152 Kbps and up: 288 Kbps. (the phone line here is really old, and a "long way" from the main station). I think I might get the stats up a bit by doing some more tweaks here.

With the new firmware I've left the MTU in the AUTO position where it indicates 1500 (albeit grayed out)
