I have just been LLUd and I wanted to share my experience. It happened 2 days ago without warning. I was looking at my router stats and I noticed that my router (netgear DG834v2) had synced higher than normal. I tried dialling a telephoning a number prefixing 1280 and the call failed.
I was chuffed that my router showed a high sync speed - 4641 kbps. However, the connection was very slow. It dropped regularly and always when the phone rang. I prepared myself for weeks of problems. Anticipating the need to phone CS, I dug out my old sagem modem. After a long wait to download the drivers, the modem synced at a high speed. However, unlike the router, download speeds were impressive. I then considered the router to be at fault and searched these forums. I found a post about a firmware upgrade that had been released to Australia. I checked the Netgear UK site and found that the upgrade had now been released for the UK.
I downloaded the firmware, rebooted and now enjoy the same speed that the modem acheived. I suppose it just goes to show that by working logically through the problem, some things can be solved without resorting to CS. Although I am no where near 8mb, I am a fair way from the exchange and am getting the speed that BT Wholesale suggested was possible. Touch wood - i am happy. All in all, I am a satisfied TT customer!
Odd Job.
