Moving home-help, Talk Talk Boy!!

[link to this post]

Hoping in desperation someone (Talk Talk Boy..?) can help here.. My friend has moved home recently, and the new property had a 'stopped' BT line there. She gave all her current details to Talk Talk (who she has an ongoing contract with, being a single mum/3 kids, they were her best option for combined telephony/broadband) and was advised that they would handle the resurrection of the telephony at the new property.

Since then, we have become aware of the ongoing 'war' with getting lines activated, with BT saying ISP is responsible for sorting this out, and TT saying BT should do it.. The upshot is, I have been told that what is required is; sign up for a 3-month BT contract, which TT will refund the subsequent cancellation fee of

Hi,

Unfortunaetly this is not my area of expertise. But as far as i am aware, if you go with the bare basic minimum package with BT then the minimum contract is 3 months with a small cessation fee. BT sales of course are going to try and sell you more, in which case you would be on a 12 month contract with a 70.00 cessation fee.

The only other reason i can think of that the cessation fee would be 70.00 is if you have piad BT to have a brnad new line installed into the property in which case from memory i think a 12 month contract is required. Im afraid i cant really help you out much with this one, maybe some other people on the forum can do ?

Hi, I work in TT's Home Mover department and deal with this scenario daily.

The situation as it stands is as follows:

Your friend has to firstly sign up with BT and get the line activated in her name, this means she's going to sign herself into BT's 12 month line rental contract (this used to be 3 months but BT's T&Cs changed on May 1st).

Returning to TT isn't a problem but she would need to be aware in doing so would mean leaving BT's LR agreement and incurring their

Brigger,

If the home mover process began before these charges were introduced and then as the customer moved into the new addressthese Higher charges and contracts came into effect, effectively increasing the amount the EU did agree to....... would talktalk still refuse to refund these charges as a credit or allow the customer to leave with no cessation fee ?

If the customer had spoken to BT asking them to activate their line prior to May 1st when BT's T&Cs changed, they would've gone into a three month LR agreement which cost

If there is a stopped line (or even no line at all) in the premises and you complain enough to the right people, talktalk will activate/install the line for you.

talktalk have already got the facility to activate BT lines (it's called the SPG -service provider gateway).

Unfortunately, my friend doesnt have the luxury of hanging on her mobile phone for 40 minutes plus each day, just to speak to somebody at TT who a)understand the issue & b)sorts it out. Shes now gone back to BT who have reinstated the PSTN line and the ADSL is coming back on Tuesday, instead of 30 days quoted by TT, so another one lost, I am afraid. Thanks for your advice and input on this though.
