Hope someone can help me here but the last few days my internet connection has been dropping out alot. Sync light is flashing on the router (Netgear DG834G v3) and sometimes it can take sometime to resync with the line. It doesnt make any difference if there are no other extensions, router on the master switch, tried using the speedtouch as provided by TT and there has been nothing new installed in the house. I have copied and pasted in the stats (I think) from the router. Maybe someone could have a look at them and give me a few pointers before I phone broadband support. I have been switched over to LLU for nearly 2 months now and the drop out (IMO) have been more frequent since this happened. Or should I say, I am noticing them!
Well here are the stats.
Cheers
Mike

Maybe switching to 2meg or 1meg fixed would give you a better stability. You have a long line and presumably picking up hefty interference from time to time. Can you associate the disconnects with anything? Time of day? Thermostats coming on?
It could be a modem or exchange card problem as well so maybe you should get that checked out as well.
Your stats look OK as they are.

Its un-usable when its being raining for any length of time. Thats the only common thing that I can put my finger on. I had asked before to be switched to a lower fixed line speed but was told that this wasnt a TT policy. (Even though I had been told that by a 2nd line TT person... this was supposed to happen but when I phoned back after the 10 or so days, I was told that this would never happen, I shouldnt have been told that; as it isnt a TT policy)
next?

Might be worth getting OpenRetch out to check the line then. Rain degredation means a bad joint somewhere. I would persist with getting switched to a fixed profile. What they say one day will be contradicted the next!

TalkTalk are capable of lowering your connection speed instantly if you are on the LLU service.

and how would one go about getting this done?

anyone from TT shed any light on this?

It sounds like you were probably on an old profile which was causing problems on your line. When you went through to the second line team they reprofiled you to somthing more suitable and knocked the old profile off and replaced it for the new one. Its the only reason your speed would have changed.

i'm also having problems with the new TalkTalk broadband. We switched from Demon to TalkTalk because it was cheaper and came with the phone line. Since switching though we've been plagued with random disconnections, something that never happened with Demon.
Tonight I've been running pingplotter to see where the issues lie. Not had a disconncet but the two points where packets have been lost are:
89.241.48.1
62.24.254.49
Yep there TT alright.
When you phone up their technical helpline its a waste of time even when you tell them they have a problem with their infrastructure. Guess its not an option on there screens!
Once the contract is up I think we'll be switching back again.
