Access router stats

[link to this post]

How is it done on the TT supplied router?. I understand it may actually be a modem.

Edit for clarification.

For ethernet port use http://192.168.1.1;

for USB port use http://192.168.1.2.

Stats are listed under STATUS -> SYSTEM INFORMATION

The MT 882 only has one of each kind of port and although they can be both used at the same time, I don't think that "router" is an accurate description of the device; modem is better.

The ethernet port should always be used if possible as the USB port can be unstable, does not work on Macs, and relies on a device driver being present. The ethernet port does has universal abilities and does not need any software to make it work. A 100Base ethernet switch is needed to connect more than one computer in ADSL2+ mode. The modem is unlikely to offer full throughput on ADSL2+ over USB, so the ethernet use should be preferred.

I find the TT LLU network to be set up correctly and I use an MTU = 1500 bytes with my Zoom PCI and Speedtouch 330 USB modems. My Huawei MT882 will only operate correctly at MTU = 1400 bytes with the USB port. I assume this is a modem problem along with the incorrect reporting of sync speeds. eg 8123 for 8128 kbps.

Thanks again. I'm trying to find out why my neighbours connection is so slow with certain sites. They don't actually use the net much so think it's normal

The ping test will reveal if the MTU settings are at fault. With the MT882 you have to always SAVE and then REBOOT and then check again to see if your setting has really been accepted. I would certainly start at MTU=1400. Then set your computer to this value as well.

Also it could be worth setting RWIN to a high value (if your OS allows you to do so).
