ADSL Wireless Router

[link to this post]

Hi

I have a TalkTalk connection and run Windows XP.

I want to buy a Linksys wireless router, rather than the TalkTalk supplied one.

Can anyone suggest which one I get? I've had a look on Amazon etc and most seem to be for DSL (not ADSL) or need an additional modem of some sort. I am sure I can just get a router, plug one end into the PC LAN socket and the other into the phone socket.

Thanks for your help.

Yep.... another ISP.

Seriously though, if you're looking for a wireless router, get the one from Carphone Warehouse as it's very good value, however, be prepared to ring their tech support for the settings for the modem then manually adjusting the settings to get it connected.

Good luck !!!

Make sure it's ADSL2+ capable. Speedtouch have a good reputation. Try here http://www.dsldepot.co.uk/index.asp?idprodtype=3 for some bargains. Remember that TT will give you a hard time if you need support without one of their modems/routers. Maybe get a wired MT 882 off eBay for backup use and support.
