Am I on a 1 MEG fixed profile?

Hi,

Am I on a 1 MEG fixed profile? If so why? When I first signed up 6 months or so ago i was regularly getting just under 2 MEG.

Looking at my stats I know the quality of my line is not good but in the beginning as I said I was getting just under 2 Meg.

My exchange in Caerphilly South Wales is due for an upgrade 17.12.07 so may wait to see what happens but am not holding my breath.

You are not on fixed 1Meg but a rate adaptive setting. Ask CS for your target noise margin to be reduced from the present 15dB to 6, 9 or 12dB. The lower the figure the more chance you will get disconnections but your speed should go up. The final figure is trial and error depending on the quality of your line.

At the moment I am quite happy with TT package. Would like to squeeze a bit more speed out of it though but I am thinking along the lines of if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

See what happens when the exchange is upgraded if anything!

Just a quick question ETEE you mention getting TT to lower my target noise margin from the present 15dB to 6, 9 or 12dB. How do you know my target noise margin is presently 15dB? Where in my stats is this information?

In your first post, you say "DS Margin 14".

Target noise margins are usually set as multiples of 3 (eg 6, 9, 12, 15 ...). But your actual margin can vary from the target figure. So your DS Margin 14 most likely corresponds to a target margin of 15 (but it's not certain).
