Brand new migration and awful sync speeds

Morning all.

Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 515 kbps <-- um.. shouldnt this be 8mbps due to being next to the exchange.
UpStream Connection Speed 108 kbps <-- also poor

This customer is literally a house attached to the exchange.
First off they spent over 3 weeks with no phoneline due to a typo made by BT (theres a surprise) during the migration - Now they are online.. the speeds are utterly poor. Worse than their previous OneTel broadband.

Is this normal - ive often noticed the upload speed of TalkTalk LLU is about half of what it should be for a normal ADSL max line?

Stats:
Line Attenuation DOWN: 20 db UP: 5 db
Noise Margin DOWN: 31 db UP: 12 db

They have filters in every used socket as I have visited and checked. NetGear DG834G running the latest firmware.

Hope someone can shed some light on this

Phone CS and get the line profile reset. Yes it should achieve 8 Megs.

So they have the ability to artificially maim the sync speed? (why?!)

i have been on the same profile for 5 days now ,tt put my synk down to 6db synk speed is around the 8 meg mark they have done this 6 times now ,after a couple of reboots i go back to

Interesting - near identical to the line I have problems with.

Wonder why this happens in the first place - this line must only be about 50 meters from the rack its plugged in to at the exchange (person lives next door to the exchange) so line quality is hardly an argument

i am 1.3 km from exchange ,
i have been told i have been put on this by tt top boffins while they work an problem ,strange ,but that is only problem i have at the moment so it is of there making

I wonder if its the "problem of congestion on our network".. and their resolution is "lets limit the people who don't complain to reduce usage"

well i think itss put people on that profile 90% of people will not be aware thers a problem will not no how to check speeds etc and will happily just plug along with it ,us the other 10% get eventualy sorted out ,so yes another bandwidth saving exercise ,the are becoming the "secrte service " of the ISP world with or there dodgy ,enderhaded ways sy mess around with our bb
