I joined TalkTalk at the beginning of last year to get the free broadband. At the time you had to take the Talk 3 package.

I see on their website that you can now get the free broadband taking only the Talk 2 package. Seeing as I am not in the house during the day I don't actually make full use of the Talk 3 package. Do I need to wait until the end of my 18 month contract before changing to the Talk 2 package?

No but you will be asked to agree to a new 18 month contract and the old one is waived.

There are now 4 different broadband plans, Talk 2 or 3 on International or Total. Total gives free mobile minutes.

I just phoned them and was told that I can't downgrade until the 18 month contract is up. Is this correct?

Yes, if you do it before this, you will be charged �70 for the breach of contract
