PS, the Ch5 speedtester wouldn't even complete

I noticed the same. I was getting similar speeds to you. It's back to normal now. So the question remains why? Were they working on the network? Adding more routers? A new network? (I have noticed I get very different IP addresses these days.) Or did something fail? email was down as well. I just wish they would send you a short email to explain and apologise for any inconvenience. Even after the event.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting in an attempt to get a better circuit. It sometimes works, but not last night.

It's strange, the speedtest reports were poor, but my sync speed was OK and pages seemed to load pretty quick too. Maybe just a lot of people on the speedtesters. I'm in Milton Keynes and TT were supposedly doing some work on my exchange which should have been completed last week. I don't know if they are still working on it Thier upgrades page here still shows a completion date of 13/02/08. The Service Status page here doesn't show any problem last night either.

It was the same last night as well. My sync speeds and stats were the same as normal.

I noticed something was wrong though when I couldn't get a news clip from the BBC. Normal webpages were fine.
I checked the talktallk web site - no work scheduled that I could see.
All back to normal this morning again!

If you want to PM me your line number, i dont mind taking a look at that for you to see if i can see anything obvious that might be slowing you down.

It's not just me - I have a friend in the west country having the same issues - fine in the day - very slow at night. It was the same tonight down from over 6Mbps to under 500kbps

How would knowing my phone number help?
