Downtime?

[link to this post]

I'm moving to TalkTalk from Sky, mainly due to Sky Connect package being USELESS in th evenings with sites like youtube not even opening.

I've used a few friends TalkTalk LLU connections and they're spot on all the time, so i'm moving over and going for the 24meg speedboost.

Question is, will there be downtime switching over? The reason i ask is, I've been told 16th March as go live date, but on the BTWHolesale checker it says

"Note: There is currently an ADSL cease pending or in progress against this line. This cease is due to complete by 9th March 2009. This will not stop you ordering ADSL from a new supplier, but will delay the provision of the new ADSL service. "

So my ADSL will be ceased then? Or will the whole line be ceased? I don't really want to be left a week internetness!

Normally TT just take over the complete line, and that ceases your previous services, both voice and BB, automatically. If TT have accepted your order, this is almost certainly what will happen. TalkTalkBoy ought to know about this and hopefully will comment.

I personally have not heard of BB services being ceased before the migration takes place, unless it has been specifically requested. Normally the losing ISP like Tiscali for instance, keep issuing invoices for BB even though Openreach have notified them of their disconnection on migration.

If you've placed an order, you should get an account number.
