BISHOPSTON exchange anyone???

[link to this post]

Talk Talk seem to be the only supplier who have unbundled the Bishopstson (nr Swansea) exchange and given the size of the area I can't see anyone else likely to do this. Is there anyone from the Bishopston exchange area in these forums and if so could they let me know how they find TT - particulalry evening and weekend speeds.

I am not really interested in cheap broadband but even paying much higher prices ADSL is only giving me currently about 1meg or less in the evenings and at the weekends -freguently it is too slow even to watch youtube. I originally decided against TT because I knew that their customer service was bad, they targetted the cheap end of the market and, at that time, I could only get 40GB download which is simply not enough. Oh and of course the 18 month contract is really off putting.

However the experiences I am having with ADSL first with Enta and now with 02 are making me reconsider - especially that I can now buy another 40GB top up package - 80GB is probably just about enough - I know that my line can support 7Mbs (I get this off peak from O2 now) but I would happily settle for a 4Mbs if it was consistent through the day - or is LLU subject to all the same problems as ADSL

If they ran a higher grade business service at £30 - £35 a month with faster speeds and higher download I would jump at it - because I think their prices are way too cheap to sustain a service - so often here I read you get what you pay for - I would gladly pay more but there is a huge gap in the 8Mbs market between the ones charging under £20 and those charging £60 or more which is clearly too much for home use

thanks - however 01792 covers a number of exchanges in this area - some of which have multiple LLU and some that have just one (like Bishopston) and others none at all.
I am particularly keen to find out about the Bishopston area as, without having any LLU competition, TT may well have signed up a higher proportion of customers

The TT backhaul from all 01792 is likely to be down the same fibre.

You could try connecting with Opal Telecom , who run TalkTalk LLU network and supply broadband to sole traders and small business upto 24mb with a 100gig FUP and prioritised traffic on there LLU network .
Comes in at £23 a month including your line rental , has UK support also .

The worst thing i can see about Opal Telecom is the 2 year contract ( GULP ) every thing else seems to tick alot of boxes for you .
Worth a look and a bit more researching OPAL LINK

A few things put me off this company
1) they use Talk Talk LLU
2) as you say a whopping 2 year contract
3) the broadband ellement is only £10 which sounds way too cheap to sustain
4) their "unlimited" usage is actually 100GB a month (that would be enough now but who knows where we will be in 2years time as that is a lifetime in internet terms
However they are worth a bit of market researh - it would be a long term prospect anyway as I am locked into BT contract until October this year so would have to pay a get out fee to them as well as to O2

looks like I am stuffed for now!

You've got the first comment the wrong way round here, TalkTalk use Opals LLU network. The network isn't owned by Talktalk, it's owned by CPWN (Opal). Other companys that use this CPWN network are:

* Utility Warehouse
* TalkTalk Business
* AOL
* Axis Telecom
* Daisy Telecom
* Ecocall
* Midshire Business
* XLN Telecom

And lots of others, CPWN resell their products to a number of ISPs, not just Talktalk smile

As ETEE states, they will be using the same backhaul so similar speeds will be available.

Thats what i meant and TalkTalk Business does not exist any more and has been replaced by Opal Telecom .

Edit : Utility warehouse i woud say is also worth a bit of research as you can just take broadband and not the phone , or that's how i read it on there website .

Nice list i will save that for the future , Thanks
