3 Questions

1. Since moving over to TT LLU, I notice my routers do not display Tx power, it stays at zero. Speedtouch ST585v6 6.1.4.3 and a Netgear DG834GT with latest official firmware.

2. The free router that you get, is it mine to do with whatever I want? or does belong to TT? i.e could I sell it on?

3. DMT - I use DMT for monitoring noise margin etc... now I'm on TT LLU it continually says "retrain detected" and shows a red line thorugh the SNR monitor graph.

Can only answer in relation to 1 above - Mine is the same and I also have the speedtouch 585v6 but using firmware 7.4.3.2.

1. My DG834GT doesn't display the Tx power either, but then again I seem to recall it not showing with a Belkin router when I was with Virgin. IIRC, it all depends if the MSAN/DSLAM bothers to feed this figure back to the router and even then it also depends on the chipset that your router uses. Anyway, what matters is that it's not a problem that it is shown as zero.

2. Not 100% sure - generally, TT seem to be overly lax at sending out free routers whenever there a potential line problem is reported, so probably they are not ever going to ask for it back. That said, I would recommend keeping hold of it because if you ever experience problems with your connection, it is always valuable to test with a TT supported router as part of the troubleshooting process. You can never have too may spare routers .

3. DMT works fine here on my DG834GT, albeit I am currently running the DGTeam 0848 firmware, but from memory it worked fine with the official firmware too. Are you implying that you are not losing sync when DMT says that you are? From the graph it seems that your SNR is very variable and with your SNRM at or below 6dB it would not be unusual for the router to retrain. If you are regularly losing sync, then you perhaps would be better off on a slightly slower but more stable profile - if DLM is active on your line, this should happen automatically after a few days.

I have a nice stash of routers already hehe, looks like I'll have another for testing purposes.

My noise margin is steady, I never lost sync at all yesterday or overnight, but DMT says I am. My noise margin is only going down to 5dB from 6dB overnight at the moment.

Strangely enough i had a random resync at around 7:45am this morning, now syncing at 4819@6dB, this is a pretty poor sync. I've just used my spares for testing, spare dongle filter into test socket, spare router, netbook, no different.
Yesterday and last night it was syncing at 5276@6dB

Now I know I have a noisy line RFI/REIN, but even this sync is a lot lower than I'm used to on ADSLMAX.

It may be worth raising this on the TT member forums, as you are losing 2Mb sync speed compared to ADSLMax, especially if it has been like it since day one after switching to TT LLU.

One thing to try is forcing your router to connect using ADSL1 (G.dmt) or ADSL2 modes, instead of ADSL2+ which is probably being used by default since that is obviously one of the main differents when using LLU compared to ADSLMax. Your DMT stats show that the majority of the ADSL2+ extra frequencies are not being used on your line, so you may find you can get more out of G.dmt or ADSL2 mode.

IIRC, this can't be changed on the DG834GT with official software, but it certainly can using the DGTeam software. Not sure about the Speedtouch. It's worth trying the 0848 DGTeam software for this reason and also I find it a lot more stable connection-wise - my line is not exactly perfect, but the 0848 software holds sync much better than any previous software build. You can always go back to the Netgear software if it proves to be a problem.

Cheers for that, I'll have a play around this weekend. I flashed my GT last night with the DG Team firmware. At the moment I'm having a try with my 2Wire 2700 HGV.
The 2 wire actually shows the Tx power by the way.

As for the lower syncs, it was like that on MAX also, large variations, it's just even lower on TT, i.e gone from 5600 to 4800 or thereabouts, anyway I'll have a play around see what I can do.

DMT is now displaying correctly with the GT since putting on the DG Team firmware.

OK, I've had a play with ADSL2 and ADLS1, no difference, still syncing under 5000kbps,
currently 4832@6dB with adsl1 mode on the Netgear GT. Rather poor IMO.. will have to have a think about this.

Any problems on the voice side of things - e.g. crackling or any other noise on the line?

Nope, seems fine to me. I just put my st585 back on for comparison, and I'm getting 4736@6dB, in ADSL1 mode PIC
