TalkTalk wireless router

[link to this post]

I have the HUAWEI wireless router and my wireless laptop is 14 metres away in another room. The laptop always shows low signal strength, but it's nearly always sufficient to get an internet connection. I recently added a wireless printer to the network and now I have the following problem:

If the wireless printer is switched on, the laptop cannot connect to the router.
If the laptop is connected to the internet (when the printer is off), when the printer is switched on, the laptop's connection drops out.

When I bring the laptop into the same room as the router and printer, everything is fine. So is it just a range/signal strength problem? Am I naive to expect the router to work over this distance with 2 devices connected?

Hi Springy,

There are multiple reasons that wireless interference occurs, this could be anything from electronic shielding of current equipment (i.e. the new printer) to interference from another wireless device.

If you try using a different wireless channel by amending the router settings this may help resolve the issue.
