trying to move from talktalk

[link to this post]

I am trying to move my ISP and phone from talktalk. I am having trouble getting anyone to not charge me to move from the MPF with talktalk to a BT exchange line. What I don't understand is why an LLU transfer is that complicated. My line is in a BT exchange whcih is what is needed. No engineer has to come out to do anything so why do I need to be charged £110 by the post office for an exngineer to come and do nothing?
The openreach databse has me down as a no BT res line although my line is in a BT exchange but I cannot get in touch with them to change the database to reflect what is really happening.
Any suggestions about how to go about not paying £110 for an engineer who doesn't need to come out to move my BT exchange line to a BT exchange, most welcome.
Cheers

If you specifically request a "return to donor" transfer from BT you shouldn't have to pay a thing, although you will be tied into a 12 month rolling contract with BT for your phone. I think this is only possible via BT. However, you will then be free to choose another ISP.

The charge that the post office quoted you is for a re connection of your line, at the moment it is on opal's (tt)kit as such they are now in control of that line,
The line will need disconnecting from the talk talk llu( both adsl & ptsn) and re-connecting of the ptsn side of things onto btw system, that is what they are charging for, how ever one way of reducing this charge would be to sign up to a calls package with bt, then it would cost less or even be free, apart from the fact that you would be in a 12 or 18mths contract with bt, but as it stands no other isp that can offer adsl via btw or smpf will be able to provide a service to you, though i have read somewhere that sky can do this but it would be another calls &adsl fmpf full llu again , alternately you may get a new line installed cheaper be currently charge £85.00

Or you can move to a WLR product such as BE LandLine or O2's LandLine for £85.

I gather OpenReach always charge the £85, but BTretail don't pass this to the end user when the user signs up a 12 or 18 month contract for calls.

I did that when moving back from Bulldog MPF to BT voice and BE Broadband.

BT currently charge at most £30 for to connect your line as long as you take a 12 month line rental & calls contract:
