Thinking of moving to TalkTalk?

Hi guys,

Currently I'am with BT broadband, and have been with them for 2 years,. I have never really had any problems with them, other than that the ping for gaming can be a little high at times (between 46-60ms)

The speed is alright, I get 6.9meg on normal ADSL, and i'm 734 metres away from my exchange. As the area is so small, the only LLU broadband I can get is TalkTalk, and they have told me my estimated speed with them would be 10.7meg, here is my current line stats:

Noise margin (Down/Up) 10.7 dB / 25.0 dB

Output power (Down/Up) 14.0 dBm / 1.8 dBm

Now, my parents used to be woth BT and the ping at there house was over 70ms, when they moved to TalkTalk last year, there ping went all the way down to about 45!

What I was wondering, is since I'm an avid gamer, will my Ping go down if I move to TalkTalk LLU?

They are over cautious. You should get 17 Meg.

Your ping should greatly improve.

No, no don't join talktalk. It went horrible wrong and awful. Avoid TT at all costs.

And for the majority of customers like myself it all goes smoothly and they are happy with their service.

Pings should be way below 45ms on TT LLU once interleaving is disabled too (which TT can arrange for free). If you have a particular server in mind, let me know and I'll post the traceroute output here.

My only choices are BT or TalkTalk LLU on my exchange also, glad I took the risk and joined TalkTalk personally.

Fast all the time, great pings, great service considering how cheap it is. The 40 GB usage a month does me fine too [just about]. Can always pay an extra £4 for double that anyway if I fancy. You should get some great speeds with your stats too.

Is it safe enough to have interleaving turned off? I had it turned off with BT at an older property, and it ended up making my connection speed fo from 5mb to 1mb?
