thinking of joining talktalk broadband worth it....

...with my line stats -

Current Noise Margin: 13.0 dB (Downstream) 11.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation: 63.0 dB (Downstream) 31.5 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power: 15.4 dBm (Downstream) 12.4 dBm (Upstream)

I'm currently with plusnet on a 1mb service, well less atm for some reason hate the fact that you have to wait 3 days to see if you speed will return to normal.

Anyway will I get a faster connection ? Does talktalk and other LLU use the 3 day rule with connection speeds?

Is your exchange LLU enabled?

The rule is the IP Profile and its 1 hour to five days to recover (changed from fixed 3 day a year or more ago)

Higher speed - without the current sync speed hard to say. BUT ADSL2+ is not going to give you any improvement. You may gain a little upstream speed, and benefit from the lack of IP Profile system assuming TalkTalk LLU is available at your exchange.

It is possible your speeds may be lower to.

yeah going by samknows it says talktalk (cpw) is enabled. Says sky is to. But some one I know is with talktalk they've said they've had no real trouble recently (but there not a heavy user), and there on the same exchange as me I think but closer to it then me.

Well, if you have a personal recommendation, that's going to help set your mind at ease. Are you a heavy user then? Will your usage run into the throttling issue on TT?

If you're looking to escape BT's profiling system, LLU is the way out.

well a use the internet more then he does as he just uses it for browsing and e-mails mainly. Where as play games,download etc

I don't think so will it? I mean my last 3 months usage has been under 60gb.

All I ask of the person who has talktalk is does he still lose his internet on sunday's and he said he hasn't that he knows of for awhile, also his internet speed jumped up to 4mb from 1mb with no warning but he's happy cos its not costing him more.

well as we speak the sync speed is currently at 1216kbps which i got after a reboot of the router it was 1016 before. But plusnet have had a service outrage in the last week or so that and all the rain and strong winds we've been having.

They throttle P2P on certain exchanges depending on traffic but at your speed it's less likely to be an issue.

just another question i'm assuming that talktalk or sky don't do less then a 12 month contact for broadband and phone.
If I'm in my flat for less then 12 months and hence have to cancel talktalk/sky what costs will i be looking at to do this?

Do talktalk offer up to 20mb?

TT only do "up to 20mb" on their LLU, but it won't help you one iota.
