What's the reason behind you thinking of it? Are you dissatisfied with Sky?
You're already on LLU, aren't you? So you won't see any diff except their DLMs.

Almost certainly if you are getting more than 8 Meg connection speed. What your Sky BB package called?

not sure my mum the account owner, she aint got a clue about computers tho.

Anymore ideas. What I need to look at on the sky bill ? Any more opinions ?

As XRaySpeX suggests you already seem to be on LLU. If so, you will be unlikely to benefit from moving to TT.
You obviously know how to access your router stats... what does is say for ADSL Operation Mode?

Oh yes he will! Unlike $ky, talktalk can switch off interleaving COMPLETELY (unlike $ky's gaming profile where interleaving is still switched on, albeit on the min setting).
OP, as you won't be using P2P then you will find Talktalk brilliant. I get superb gaming pings (average 15ms), no problems using rapidshare, megaupload, video streaming sites etc. Oh and they're cheap as chips as well
As for support (eg to get interleaving and DLM switched off) register on talktalk forums and put the request on there...they'll do that for you, no questions asked. Actually i would put their web support on a par with the likes of AAISP, Zen, Goscomb, IDNET support staff etc. Their forum support staff are very technically minded...shame that the same can't be said about their phone support team.

When interleaving depth of 8 downstream and 4 upstream is applied, the effects of it are very minimal. Most standard connections come with 32 downstream and 16 upstream.

You're already getting above 8128kbps sync so this is obviously LLU. If you wasn't on LLU, you'd be paying more for your broadband on the Connect package, receive only 448kbps upstream and 8128kbps downstream. Sky don't do adsl2+ over BTs network.

Sky don't do adsl2+ over BTs network. Yes, that was my "Almost certainly" get-out in my reply, as I didn't think Sky did WBC.

As far as I an aware. I am sky 10meg service. I don't think it's LLU. I will check the sky bill later. I am on PPPOE. don't think that LLU or am I wrong?
|
|
wrong there.
I am fastpath and my pings are as low as 9 most of the time but arround 11-12 at worst.
Also Talktalk LLU does have its limits, just look at the TC sky llu is the only true unlimited package left.
|
|
You are on Sky LLU as you are getting over 8 meg/sec
There is one issue though you speed is looking about right for a 37dB attenuation, but your noise ratio is 3.6dB. Sky runs at a 7dB profile so I think you may have a small wiring problem somewhere as you should be seeing that speed with a 7dB noise margin.
Also if you go to Talk Talk you will need to take out their phone line as well, which your mum may not want to do.

They'd be more complaints if they did!

Sky don't do a 10meg service, it's 20meg or 8meg. But you're on the 20meg LLU package. The type of of network doesn't matter as both PPPoA and PPPoE can be used for LLU, it's still DSL.

you wrong.
Sky dont do a 10mbit connection, they do the up to LLU product and connect which is based on bt equipment and cannot go about 8128kbps.
By you being above that speed you are on LLU, its impossible on skys connect system to get above this.
So yes, you are on LLU already and if your telly, talk and broadband are with sky, you will be hard pushed to find a better price and a better allowance, TT cannot compete if you have all 3 services with Sky

So the upshot is that you are on Sky's "up to 20 Meg" LLU service (5 posters have confirmed that) and you are getting 10 Meg, about par for your attenuation.
So, unless you have some reason for leaving which you haven't told us, you will not benefit from going to TT and will possibly lose out by having your usage limited and by locking your line to TT. Would the account holder want to do that?
