Hi, I'm new to talktalk and the forum.
Was with Nildram but continual contact by talktalk and getting the usual usual sales routine I decided to go with them for telephone and broadband.
Having enjoyed between 6 & 7.5 mbs with Nildram (except peak contention) I'm now stuck with .75 to 1.8 mbs. change over date was 29/07/2011.
I got the run around from all customer support, the last conversation was that my problem had been logged on 2/07/2011 but left open, some kind guy has tried again to sort it and thinks it might get done for 10/07/2011.
The bottom line is I now want to leave talktalk because they have done what I was sold but the wont give me the MAC.
Any helpful comments or solutions welcome.
Regards
Martin

first up , we need to see your line states from your router , and second up , the best way of getting problems resolved whilst on TalkTalk is through there members forum and not over the phone .
the members forum is only staffed during office hours but we still find this is the best way of getting faults logged and fixed .

TalkTalk is full LLU - thus no MAC available

Oh ! my apologise , stats not states but as not to waste a post , here is a link to the members forum http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/index.php .
If you have only just signed up to Talktalk ,your login and password might not work for the members forum but fear not , as a quick PM to the TalkTalk representative that post on this forum can get this fixed quickly .

HI rwebster,
sorry to hear you are suffering slow speeds on your new connection. Have you managed to register on the members forum yet? If not or if you are having issues with that PM your account and telephone numbers to me and I will add you to the database and take a look at your line too.

Not really used to forums and thought this might be helpful. Eventually found "Members Forum" tried to register but apparently my tel no and account don't exist on the database so as usual no joy.

Don't know about LLU what ever that is, and regarding MAC I just want a decent broadband speed and if talktalk can't give me that after 13 days then I want out.

The talktalk rep has offered to help you. You could reply to them?

How very convenient.
Don't really understand "PM your account and telephone numbers to me"

Click on My Home then Send a PM (private message) to talktalk_support. - it's here: http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/sendprivate.php Send him the details and he will add you to their members forum, so you can get help from them.

Go to your "My Home" here; then "Send a PM" to the member in question.

LLU where a provider installs their own hardware in the telephone exchange.
When leaving talktalk there is no MAC needed, you contact a new phone/broadband supplier and get them to arrange things, but of course you need to ensure you are not billed for any remaining months on any existing contract

just remeber you have 30 days to leave Talktalk no questions asked
that being said I found the members forum 100% the place to get results I wont bother ever phoning tech support again im just going to stick with the members forum.
If by some chance they dont sort the issues out.
make sure you are within the timeframe of the 30 day leaving.you have to tell them you are using that option or you might face charges. With luck though they will get the issues sorted for you.Mines been working fine since I used the forum
good luck

hi. i would like to know who i can talk to about my slow broadband speed. but someone who can realy help me , because i spend over £15 calling several numbers and with no results. thank you.
ps: i don't understand why the client should struglle to resolve ur company problmes when we should be the ones to sit back and relax and ENJOY our MINIMUM 8MB speed that we pay for.
Were you sold a product with a minimum download (throughput) speed of 8Mbps, or was the product's speed, on your line, described as "up to 8 meg" (up to 8Mbps)?
the product was described exactly like this " ur internet speed WILL be from 8mb/s to 15mb/s, and IT CAN'T GO LESS THEN 8MB/s" that is exactly what i was told.
They were possibly talking about downstream sync speed based on an estimate of the distance between your premises and the exchange, based on a line that is in good condition and with premises wiring that is also in good condition.
Download throughput speed can be effected by a very large variety of factors...
before i signed the contract i asked 3 times " what will the lowest speed be?" and they said that there won't be a speed lower than 8mb/s at any circumstances, no matter what. so basicly they said i pay for speed between 8 and 15 mb/s. not for a speed up to 8 mb/s. because i asked them " are u sure that i will have at least u8 mb/s at all time?" and they said " of course u will have no matter what" so i only have 200kb/s when i am lucky...
Post your current line stats which will give us a better idea of whats going on

Then unfortunately you have been mislead, it's impossible for them to guarantee at least 8Mbps all the time.
If it was established that both your home wiring and the line to the exchange are both in good condition and the estimated distance to the exchange suggests a downstream sync of between 8 and 15Mbps then sync speeds of 8Mbps or more are theoretically plausible, which in most cases are a practicality if the estimated line distance to the exchange (and hence estimated attenuation) is fairly accurate.
