One mystery Solved..Re the iffy broadband in this area.

the guys on the talktalk support forums showed me this link that allows postcode and Tel number to check the exchange.

I was stunned to see the route the ADSL takes to this place.
It makes sense now why the ADSL has been flaky and not as high speed.

Ive marked the main road (that leads to this site and has many houses.shops etc) in red.then theres the blue line of the ADSL route itself.Basically its almost doubling back on itself and taking the longest route is can along the coastal road.

That isn't the guaranteed route, it is a possible route (see the disclaimer at the bottom). The actual route could be completely different.

LOL I really hope its not the case.it seems insane going such a crazy route (nearly all that is just green fields and pretty beach)!!!

If it is the same as Technium CAST in Bangor, they'll probably have a leased line or similar as they'll provide the whole building with access.

2.8km so under 42dB attenuation most lilkely, should be good for 7 or 8Meg on ADSL2+

Everyone has said for over 10 years that DSL is affected by line length, so why is it a surprise?

TT appear to be using software that calculates the shortest road distance, not the actual cable route.

It shows my cable routed through a nearby park, as the park path is legally a road, but is closed to traffic.
