advice on talktalk router please

[link to this post]

i have a dsl-2780 router that keeps dropping connection on a 6db margin that was previously stable on o2 LLU for 2 years on 3db margin.

i have been checking the router stats for noise and see none at all what i do see is downstrem power is 19 immediately after syncing but then shows 0 for entire time line is synced .. is this normal??

i can keep a connection if i force adsl2 mode but i lose nearly 7mb of the sync frown

0 does not mean zero power, so is not a fault.
The margins and attenuation must be somewhere if interface is showing power levels.

Without those it is hard to comment on anything.

How does the Talktalk supplied router cope with the line?

The TalkTalk LLU kit may be tweaked so that it works better with their own hardware.

For ADSL2 that looks OK. If at 26dB attenuation is performing badly the inference is that you have bad noise in the 1.1MHz to 2.2MHz range. One option is to request a 9dB target margin from TalkTalk, though this might end up being no faster than the ADSL2 mode anyway.
