New Fibre Install

my cabinet (cab 8 on WMKDG exchange) has just gone live for fibre

i am literally 2 phone poles away from cab on opposite side of the road.
all estimates are 80 down and 20 up so how likely is it i will get those speeds? my line has been stable as a nut since i moved here in nov 2011 and have happily ran 17.5 - 18 meg all that time with a normal 6db snrm and 29db attenuation.

ADSL2+ speed is largely irrelevant.

If the distance is under 200m then a very good chance of the very high speeds. If the two poles mean 500m of cable then a slower speed is to be expected.

So its not number of poles, but metres of cable that matter.

i see well its about 60 - 80 metres of cable i would say so the estimate would be about right i hope

One small tip. When you do go live with whichever provider you decide, make sure that your IP Profile is correct and that you have been provisioned with the correct Profile by both BTW and you ISP.

like myself and in many peoples cases I was provided with the 40/10 package but after checks I found my line could handle 80/20 profile. This was not made apparent to me during the point of sales nor during the install phase.

Luckily I spend time reading from great places like this TBB forum.

After FTTC/P install check your profile here: http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
Then compare the IP Profile you have actually been provisioned with. They may not be the same/correct?

Suspect the BT Wholesale system will NOT work with TalkTalk LLU, as its openreach direct onto the TalkTalk network at the exchange

I didn't see the blindingly obvious ^^Talk Talk^^ thread I was commenting on.
My bad.
However, out of curiosity is there any way for LLU customers to check their IP profiles against what they have been provisioned with besides viewing the stats from an UNLOCKED modem ?

LLU has never used IP profiles afaik

ADSLMax did, eg 8128 sync speed, 7150 IP profile, 6900 speedtest

connected yesterday 4pm speed tests currently showing 20 - 30mb down and 13 - 20mb up. does talktalk fibre require training still or should i contact talktalk members forum? i should be getting 76mb and 20mb

Rare to see the downstream so low with good upload speeds. One assumes you are testing using an Ethernet connection, as wireless can easily max out if you don't have the best reception or hardware in the computer

i sorted it now it was the wireless as it was only achieving 80mb throughput from the router now its wired im getting this
