As said with an attenuation of 31db you should be getting around 16mbps sync if on fast path with the default noise margin of 6db, My guess is that TT's DLM will have gone into overdrive and ramped up the noise margin & increased interleaving depth/delay wich in turn lowers the sync rate, The cause of this could be down to the crackling you are able to hear when using the phone, sounds like it could be a high resistance fault ( HR ) Report it as a voice fault to tt

A high SNRM just shows he has more speed to come, maybe the effects from Christmas lights. The DLM didn't like it so it has banded you...

Forget broadband and concentrate on the telephone side of things.

Unplug BB cable and try the quiet noise test with a corded phone in the test socket (remove covering faceplate).

If there is any crackling (noise) then inform the company that you pay your telephone bill that there is noise on the line.
