TalkTalk Broadband DL & UL Speeds?

Hi,

My query is quite simple. I'm with TalkTalk, now they're not the best as most know but I do get an extremely good deal and not one that can be bettered by another provider in my area. However, when performing a speed check via various different online companies my DL speed varies between 8-12mbs per seconds and my UL speed between 500-800kbs per second. Overall i'm happy with this as i'm not a heavy user by any stretch, but I have noticed that when I DL files online my DL speed caps out at 1.2mbs per second no matter the file type or the location I DL from.

Am I missing something relating to this technology or should I be concerned. I don't understand why I can't DL at 8-12mbs per second if that's what I am paying for?

Are you confusing units?

12 megabits (mb) per second results in a download sped of 1.2 megabytes (MB) per second (approx)

You could very well be right, i've checked the numbers and that would seem to be the case. Thank you for this, much appreciated. Always nice a feeling when you've learnt something new, especially on a Monday!
