TalkTalk broadband outage

[link to this post]

My partner has had no TalkTalk broadband connection since yesterday afternoon (July 26). I went on the downdetector.uk website and found that TalkTalk is down all over the country, so I informed him (I'm in Sussex and not affected by this problem). Thank goodness for downdetector. I cannot think why TalkTalk cannot put up an announcement on its website.
I have left a comment on its website but it was difficult because it assumed you wanted information about a product or had a problem with your computer. There was nowhere for people to report outages.
He did manage to get through on one of the help phone lines finally and was told TalkTalk was going to work on the problem this evening. Let's hope they resolve it as many people must be badly affected.

If TT is down all over the country, how come you're not affected in Sussex?

Well, I would say he is a customer of another ISP.

I wasn't aware of the downtime site; must investigate.

Did a quick peek on twitter and no obvious sign of a nationwide outage for four million people

There has been no talktalk outage in either Oxfordshire (myself), Berkshire (Brother), or Buckinghamshire (friends).

I was online gaming to a server in Canada on my TalkTalk connection from South Yorkshire from 7pm until gone 2am last night. Rock solid for me.

HI,

All Known outages are shown on our Sevice Announcements Page. Any customers who think they may be affected by an outage can run a check on our Service Centre, which will report any exchange issues in your area.

As Andrew has pointed out we do also tweet about known outages and notifications are posted on the TalkTalk Community to ensure maximum visibilty of any such issues.

Cheers

the downdetector page showed a peak of 13 "complaints" within a 15 minute period, with a likely average of 6 per 15 minutes.

That there was a hump between 5pm and 9pm probably speaks more to when people come home from work than a generalized outage.

Had no issues here in MK.
