How to check for congestion?

Hi all,

Am currently with Talktalk on regular broadband. The speeds vary quite a bit, and I can see an amber on the exchange (LNMUS).

I wanted to upgrade to Fibre, but also want to check to make sure it's going to be worth it.

From the little bits I think I understand, the key components to check are:

- exchange congestion
- backhaul congestion

The exchange would appear to be ok for fibre I think from using the plus.net checker. The backhaul I have no idea where to start. Any way of doing this without interacting with Talktalk phone support? No disrespect intended etc - their business team are great, but this is for home.
