My next hop changed a few weeks back from a BRAS in Leeds to one that I think is in London. Wonder if TalkTalk have been centralising L2TP termination and pushed something too hard?

How do you identify where the BRAS is located?

Peering or path through providers network to the peers

Only the smallest providers have a single path through their network and even then good practice means you have two or more to allow for one bit of kit failing.

So your wife is not a lady? Do you still retain your balls after she reads that? :/

Ah! That's the way you meant it! - my brain is fried, been eating too many donuts in Times Square again. If anyone is online around 9PM tonight I will flash my [censored] on the Times Square street cam just for you to show how many I have eaten smile (5 hours behind here)

Latency. Previously my first hop was hit in less than 5ms, it's now a virtually identical time to the BBC and the lack of difference between them indicates the BRAS / LNS is close to the BBC servers in London.

As what is hopefully a final update to this thread, I had a nice speed test surprise this morning.

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html...

Pulse8 are upgrading all their customers packages, which must have resulted in the problem TTB kit being bypassed.

Hopefully all other Pulse8 users that were having single thread speed issues will see a similar improvement in their results.

Not sure whether this is Pulse8 specific or whether TTB are also moving their users over as well.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it will last.
