TalkTalk ADSL Modem/Router - HG520B

[link to this post]

An elderly relative has managed to lose their TalkTalk HG520B ADSL Modem/Router - don't ask!

Are there any peculiarities in setting up a new modem?

Do I need a Username & Password, or will a similar one off eBay be OK as is?

Thanks!

No username or password needed for TalkTalk ADSL.

Don't recall any other tweaks needed, it just used to work if you had an ADSL2+ modem

Thanks Andrew.

I have just "won" a HG520B for £3.99 on eBay, so hopefully will have them up and running again soon.

Cheers!

Interesting, in the past you did. I know when my brother transitioned from ADSL to VDSL it was quite a different setup. That is the ADSL was a PPPoA, with a username and password and the VDSL is a VLAN tagging thing.

It would be nice if all providers were auth-less. You can switch from BT or Sky ADSL to TalkTalk without touching the BT/Sky router, the TT network will simply accept whatever credentials you pass it.
