Port existing landline to Future fibre 500

[link to this post]

Our current VM deal includes a "landline" phone. In the perfect world I'd like to get rid of it completely, and use our existing mobile phones instead, but my better half insists that she can't hear her mobile as well as she can when using our Gigaset C300A landline phones. I suspect that the VM landline phone probably uses VOIP but am uncertain whether or not it does. It could be a deal breaker for Future Fibre if it can't be done..
Does anyone know if it is possible to port the landline? Failing that can I use VOIP instead, and if so what extra kit will I need? Tia

As far as I know Future Fibre does not offer a voice line, so you can't port to that.
Instead, I'd suggest porting the number to a VOIP provider (e.g. Sipgate Basic), which has a one off cost for porting, then depending who you port to can be free or incur a monthly charge.

However, it's important to ensure that you have the new FTTP install in place before porting the number and the port will cease your VM service and you will lose the number.
If the number is not important to you, then you can create a free account with Sipgate Basic and test out their VOIP services to see if that works and then just ditch VM.

In terms of equipment, you could pick up something like the Gigaset N300a box to work with your existing DECT phones. That box would handle the connection to the VOIP provider.
You can also get VOIP apps for phones to make / receive calls using the "landline" number

Porting out a VM number shouldn’t affect a VM broadband service in the same way as a BT-based service. At least it didn’t used to.

I was told it would...however their service staff are not always as knowledgeable as one would like them to be!
