Just got connected at the weekend with the service. And wondered what people's speeds were.
Currently I seem to be getting 500 down and 500 up.
I assumed the upload would have been much lower as that's what they had said when ordering.
Does anyone have any different or is it just mine?

Nice speeds
It seems like you're on a Cityfibre FTTP based TT service, which is symmetric, unless the ISP caps the upload.. I suspect TT quoted you their Opwnreach FTTP upload speeds which are NOT symmetric.

Yeah, as John_Trent has said, they told you the OpenReach based speeds I suspect (500 down, 75 up).
I'm on TalkTalk via OpenReach...can't really fault it.
TalkTalk Future Fibre - 500Mbps / 75Mbps

That's look likely you on cityfibre with talktalk not Openreach backhaul

hang on, you're telling me (who would be on CityFiber) that when TalkTalk told me the service is 125/25 they were just completely wrong?

Not you. I was reply to gordonsuk.

I'm on the same, Was told by TalkTalk before I got it, that the upload was around 75mb. However the Cityfibre engineer said when he was installing that the speeds are symmetrical.

Hi,
Just wanted to ask, those on Cityfibre Future fibre, do you have the same price of product as those on openreach, as i remember that Talktalk once had different pricing for cityfibre (cheaper £29 a month for gigabit symmetric with more benefits) whereas openreach was considerably more for half a gig asymmetric.
Just felt like asking as I didn't know what they did these days.

I am on CityFibre Talk Talk FTTP. I signed up for £35/ month with 6 months free. Meaning it works out as £22 a month
I signed up for 500 down 75 up. I am getting 550 down and 350 up. So I am over the moon.
I think TalkTalk are just selling it as 75 up to avoid confusion with the Openreach product.

They may have the same issue as Zen do on Cityfibre.
The OFCOM speed code of practice requires Talktalk to advertise speeds that are achieved by a subset of test users. This is necessary in different cities across the country.
It needs some with an approved speed tester built in to the router or via a Samknows whitebox.
Until they fully meet these requirements they must advertise the Cityfibre product with the lower upstream speeds available on Openreach.
It might just be that their availability checker doesn't differentiate between the 2 networks so they show the lower upstream to be on the safe side.

There are targeted introductory discounts like this for TalkTalk FF on CityFibre.

550/350 are much better than Openreach FTTP in my view. Well done TalkTalk Business FTTP.

270 down/330 up last night now that TT finally have my connection working. Only took them a week after the fibre went in
I think the AP/Router is still a bit slow, but faster kit will have to wait.
