Good Afternoon,
In the process of buying a new house, and the location supports G.Fast, so after some shopping around I found Talk Talk offer a 150 Mbps package which suits my needs (I am moving from a similar package with Hyperoptic).
My question is: Will I get a Openreach G.Fast Modem as part of the managed install from TT? I can't seem to get a definitive answer from TT and I wasn't keen on joining their forum again before joining them.
Hopefully someone here can let me know

Hi, yeah you should get new kit as it will be configured for TT, Is it Full Fibre, i.e. fibre optic coming into your property? You can use your own modem/router..but if there is any issues do not expect much help from any provider, the kit providers supply(might not be the best) are supported by the provider.

Depend how far away from the G.fast cabinet and what does BTw checker say in your estimate Range A clean for G.fast?

The TalkTalk router doesn't have a G.fast modem built in, so you will get an Openreach-provided one.

Errrr…I thought the thread title was G.Fast….😎

The OP question was
“Will I get a Openreach G.Fast Modem as part of the managed install from TT?”
Not what speeds am I likely to receive on G.Fast….🤔

He should change his title to "Obsessed by speed"

if the speed is not much faster than normal FTTC, then it is not really worth paying the extra for g.fast, so for once I can see where ADSLMAX is going.

Thanks for the confirmation. It's G.Fast so on FTTC.

As you can see it's worth going for G.Fast

Sorry adslmax but at which point did I try and suggest you wanted G.Fast?
You replied to my post and I replied back to you.
With respect if you have nothing useful to add to what I am asking, please don't reply for the sake of replying, as it's unhelpful.

Having been on this forum for a few years, I checked the Wholesale Checker before going ahead with looking at G.Fast.
Sadly though the reply from adslmax was fair, their further reply is just infuriating!

Thanks jpm that was my hope, and I should have posted back here (but am right towards the end of finalising a house purchase) and said I had posted on the TT Community and someone there also confirmed I will get an Openreach modem, which is great news!

you seem to change your broadband more times than some people change their phones.
I have been with Plusnet for 7 years, granted i did think about changing when the last contract ended, but i have stayed with them.
I may change in Jun next year depending on if I decide to go for FTTP. The thing at the moment is price.

So you agree with me. Thanks.
I thought g.fast you had to be very close to the cabinet to get any advantage? I don't think we have any g.fast here at all, not that it would be of any use to me as my cabinet is a long way.

Which is one of the reasons why it’s no longer a strategic product, the number of properties able to attain the speeds was too small.

Which I am thankfully.
Decided to go for a faster service as it was available.
Other properties I looked at had FTTP.
Never imagined I would consider Broadband speeds a factor in house purchasing!

I have moved, either to rented or bought, 3 times since my original Metronet fixed 1 meg … and what speeds I would be able to get has flavoured the choice greatly.
No FTTP available on this estate (though Lord knows why not, all nicely ducted) lots of family homes eager for bandwidth, an easy win for whoever installs first).
105m to the cab. Nailed up 80meg, then got G.fast when it came out. All very happy.

MetroNet now there's a blast from the past. I first moved up to Manchester (where I have now bought a house) in the early 2000's and I joined MetroNet (well the other half at the time did) for our ADSL service, from there I moved to Virgin Media (ADSL) and then onto other providers. I remember having a second phone line installed during the dial up day's so that my Parents phone line wasn't engaged with me being online all the time.
How times and speeds have changed!

MetroNet have been absorbed into M247 now along with Venus and the quality of the service is in the toilet. It's a shame but they seem to have a "pile it high, sell it cheap" model now.

I can't see myself ever purchasing a house now to be honest unless I win the lottery or move in with the other half and then that is her house, not mine. Broadband is fine where she is as she has FTTP, which is strange since she lives in a small village.
I am not saying i would not look at broadband speeds if i moved, but as long as i can get at least the same speed i have now, that is fine.

i loved Metronet, it was a great ISP and then plusnet grabbed hold of it, so I vanished very quickly from it. Now i am back with plusnet.

They were indeed consumed (I think that's an appropriate word) by PlusNet along with MAAF (Mad As A Fish). My parents are with PN and I have never had an issue with them, sadly they don't offer G.Fast.

Hi mr_mojo
No issues here, getting the full 150 Mbps. TT Support (via the forum) have been fine, and oddly I got a £5.25 credit for them not sending the router in time to get me going on day 1. So I have to say "So far, very good". Not sure I will use their router long term, but for now it works.
