FTTP Digital Voice Pricing

[link to this post]

Does anyone have details of the pricing for digital voice on FTTP? The TalkTalk website seems to only want to sell data only packages.

I didn't think TT provided digital voice with FTTP, if you really want it and still need TT for broadband you need to find a separate voice provider. Look at the VOIP section of this forum for suggestions.

TalkTalk seems to be 'falling apart at the seams', but AFAIK the pricing is the same as analogue plans.

The website is broken but this page suggests it costs nothing, though I imagine the PAYG rates are excessive and they will encourage you to buy a bundle

This appears to be the way many providers have gone offering no voice service (Yet we are still be charged prices higher compared with before when they claimed landlines was worth £15+ alone)

Any reason why you are only looking at TalkTalk many other providers around who are cheaper or offer higher speeds for the same price.

TT do seem to be in a bit of marketing mess and seem to lack direction!

A couple of years ago Freedom Fibre (patially funded by TT) decided to overbuild an Openreach FTTP in Culcheth and offered residents a 'free' 500 MB service (no phone) to queer Openreach's pitch.
A friend of mine took up their 'kind offer' whilst retaining the BT line for his elderly mother to call him. Talk in the pub was that nobody really got anything 500MB and the service was patchy.

The 6 month trial stetched on and on and their were a lot OR vans knocking about as people swapped to other ISP's on Openreach.

My mate swapped from Freedom Fibre/TalkTalk to TT/Openreach. He pays £26.00 a month for a 150MB FTTP circuit with Digital Voice (incoming calls only). He uses a TT router and had TT provide the connector for his phone - they don't get asked for this often!

For comparison I use Zen over Openreach and have a 900MB FTTP circuit with Digital Voice (includes a 1000 minutes bundle, for which I pay £62.00

Yes, it's a shame that they can't do the "free broadband" offer that they did ~20 years ago on FTTP (data only) smile

This is for a family member who currently insists that they want to remain with TalkTalk. I have tried to convince them otherwise, but...

Thanks – I think that's exactly the sort of thing which I'll be looking to do for this address. Looks like the current new customer price for 150Mb FTTP is £28pm, which doesn't seem too bad.

Zen do a few FTTP speeds at different prices. I have 900/900 over CityFibre. This costs £40 pm plus £6 pm for Digital Voice, with 1000 minutes to landlines and mobiles. Zen currently offer 18-month contracts with no increases during the contract.

Thanks, but unfortunately CityFibre isn't available at this address. Getting BT Openreach FTTP is proving to be "fun" as it's a MDU with a particularly awkward design (think converted manor house and you won't be far off).
