We have an FTTC connection to our premises and are getting reports of low speeds from users, though when I have run speedtests on my iPhone they seem very respectable compared to the reports.
I had 19.6 download with 16.4 upload on 24 October at 4.35pm though a test just a few minutes earlier produced 61.5 and 17.5. There was some noise (crackling) on the payphone attached to the same line which appears to come from the connection with the handset so this may be the cause of any speed loss.
However, I have downloaded the current diagnostics from our router (a Vigor 2860 from Draytek) and to me they don't appear to show any real problem to that point so my feeling is that any problem lies with the user's laptop and its wifi connection to the router. I show the diagnostics below and would be grateful for any comments before I go back to the user. Is it worth asking TalkTalk to run tests on our line, or would that be superfluous given the router's report?
Sorry about the loss of formatting, which hopefully hasn't made the data unintelligble!
