Failed 512k test in 2000, got ISDN.
New line ordered early 2002, new drop line installed as old line was aluminium and couldn't carry another pair.
2002 Passed for 512k just (58/59db from Speedtouch 530 - Alcatel at exchange).
Switched to 1mb when limits were relaxed by Wholesale (BT Wholesale checker read Amber for 1mb at the time though I was installed without a hitch).
Until very recently the BT Wholesale checker would give me 1mb with a possible engineer install or MAX at around ~1.5mb or greater reading.
Line stats from Speedtouch 780 are currently:
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 16.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5 / 62.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 22.0 / 13.0 (evening - daytime/after a re-sync it is as high as ~20db).
Checked BTWholesale checker just now and it's changed to read Green for 2mb and 2mb for MAX.
I've been afraid to switch to a MAX service for fear that I would get a worse service (though I would like to have the higher upload and download).
Is it worth me trying to get a fixed 2mb regrade from BTBB or go for MAX? in either case could I get a regrade back to fixed 1mb if there are problems?
One further question, is it possible in anyway to get the benefits of increased upload from MAX but with a fixed download speed (like sticking with my 1mb down)??
