Erratic Connection

[link to this post]

I had a stuck bras profile last week which has been sorted; however since then my connection has been all over the place ranging from 2meg one day to 6.8meg the next. I am so sick of this I really wish I had not gone with BT for my broadband.

Anyone any idea's what it could be?

What are your line stats?

Attenuation, Downstream SNR/Noise Margin ?

ok this is strange, i can get it to Sync at 6meg if I use the phone at the same time as syncing then if I put the phone down and resync it drops again the longer i leave it untill resyncing the lower the connection speed. Also when its syncing the phone pulsates loud and quite.

And it looks like my bras profile has gone ti*'s up again, i would be able to tell if BTs tester was working(Probably from over use from everyone with problems) I am going now to bang my head against the wall.

Maybe you have duff filter. You could also have a HR (High Resistance) fault somewhere which can be caused by corrosion or simply a bad joint. This can be temporarily cured when you pick up the phone due to the higher current 'wetting' the HR fault and reducing the resistance and allowing a better ADSL signal. When you put the phone back down over time the joint again deteriorates and goes higher and higher resistance. Try another known good filter and if that doesn't stop it and you can still hear noise on voice report it on 151 as a voice fault. If it is a HR fault then fixing it will also cure your ADSL problems.

EDIT: Typo

I have new filters all round, and currently plugged into the test socket.

Possibly a HR fault between you and the exchange then.

Is it normal when the line is syncing to affect phone volume?
