Max: BRAS (re-)profiling rules changed?

Has anyone else noticed that the MAX BRAS profiling (or re-profiling) rules seem to have changed?

Over the last few days I have been in the 4000 or 4500 profile, getting actual download speeds of either 480KBs or 540KB/s.

This morning I powered up the router and synced at 6368. I started a download and to my surprise I am downloading at 660kB/s. My BRAS profile has obviously gone up.

But this upward resetting of the profile has happened straight away, immediately on powering up the modem. its supposed to take 3 days for this to happen.

Now I think about it, I shouldn't have been getting the 540KB/s speeds lately either. I have had several sync events at the lower (i.e. < 5696) sync speed, and it should have taken 3 days just to go back up to 540Kb.

It looks to me like BT have changed the rules to make the BRAS speeds follow your sync speeds more closely?

maybe its broke, or maybe its been changed to avoid the "stickiness".

I hope its the latter.

It always seemed a bit "mean" to me that if your sync speed drops suddenly, the BRAS profile is reset downwards immediately, whereas when your sync speed goes back up, it takes 3 days for the profile to go back up.

I hope the rules have changed. Anyone else noticed any difference?

I did some router tweaking for my very noisy line and I can now manage to sync with stability at 2.4Mbps and the BRAS seems to have jumped from 1.5Mbps to 2Mbps in under 24 hours...

This is after several weeks of having a "fixed" 1.5Mbps BRAS profile.

I have to agree.

Mine was at 3000, then after 3 days went to 3500, now today after another 3 days, went up to 6000! Much better!
